What is a home run?

At Rosewood Communities, we are dedicated to creating the highest quality possible in our homes, even down to the wiring systems. On all of our homes, our electrical contractors from Jaymarc Electric install electrical bundles known as home run wiring systems.

In typical electrical wiring used by most new home builders, each circuit will service multiple loads, either several lights or outlets, each with a set of wires running from one outlet or lighting circuit to the next. This creates what is known as “daisy-chain” wiring, and often can make electrical repairs more complicated, as it becomes more difficult to trace the wiring back to the site of the problem. These wiring systems can also prove inconvenient, as one issue in the wiring has the ability to affect electrical issues in other parts of the home.

In home run wiring, a single load will have its wires run “all the way home” or back to the circuit breaker in the breaker panel, with no other loads on that particular circuit. This type of wiring makes servicing and electrical repairs easier and more efficient, as there is one breaker box where all of the major electrical wiring is connected. As each wire connects directly to the breaker panel without connecting to any other loads, an issue in one wire will not affect the efficiency of the other wires.

As typical daisy-chain wiring is less expensive and labor-intensive to install, the majority of new-home builders use it despite it’s inferior efficiency. Home-run wiring systems are utilized in all Rosewood homes, as we view high-quality construction as an investment into the distinction and value of each home we build.
