Greer's New Facelift - CenterG

There comes a time for every city to update it’s aging infrastructure and plan for its future growth - that time has come for Greer, SC. On January 15, 2019 they broke ground to complete the project known as CenterG, “a $10.8 million initiative that will reshape the business district's streetscape” (Randall, 2019). This 18 month project will transform one of South Carolina’s fastest growing cities into a modern, business-friendly gathering spot. One of the focuses will be on transforming Trade Street. One design feature involves removing the curbs to create a shared street design for better movement of pedestrians and vehicles. This change will allow Trade Street to be easily adapted into a pedestrian plaza for various city events. Greer has increasingly become a destination spot in the South Carolina Upstate. This project will continue to add value to business owners and residents alike.

Sossamon Construction, of Gaffney will be tackling this long awaited project. Their craftsmanship can be seen in the completed streetscape projects for neighboring Spartanburg and Fountain Inn. For more information and project progress go to www.futuregreer.com.
